Many believers spend years trying to become righteous.
They pray harder.
They fast longer.
They serve more.
They try to avoid mistakes.
Yet the more they strive, the more they feel they have not arrived.
That is the tragedy of religion:
it turns righteousness into a destination to reach instead of a gift to receive.
Paul destroys this mindset in Romans 5:17:
“Those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life through one, Jesus Christ.”
Notice the wording carefully:
Paul did not say those who achieve righteousness.
He said those who RECEIVE the gift of righteousness.
This changes everything.
